Tarapur History
Centuries ago, a landlord had five
sons. As each entered their Grihaprasthashrama*, they were given a large
piece of land to live on. The area Tarapur belonged to one such son. It is said
that he married a lady from West Gujarat (a region called Saurashtra) and
started his family in Tarapur.
All original Tarapurians therefore
originate from the same family tree. This is the reason why we are all brothers
and sisters - one of reason why one is not to marry within the same
"gaam" (village).

"Grihaprasthashrama" is a Sanskrit word describing the
lifespan of a person between the ages of 25 and 50. During this time, a
man/woman is to start their "home" - taking care of creating and maintaining
one's household, children and living. |
